Student Name: Katelin Hong School: Oswego East Grade: 9 Class: Pottery 1 UN Sustainable Development Goal: Clean Water and Sanitation Brief Artist Statement: The main idea of my artwork is to show where people have access to clean drinking water. Many of us can get clean drinking water by turning a faucet or pressing a button, but in 2017, 2.2 billion people lacked safely managed drinking water. I want the audience to realize that not everyone has clean water and we should not take it for granted. My artwork is the Earth in the shape of a raindrop to represent water, and it shows how much of a population in an area have access to clean drinking water. Where there are darker colors, more people in that area have access to clean drinking water, and where there are lighter colors, a smaller percentage of people in that population have clean drinking water (where it is white there is no data).
