Student Name: Kasey Propkop School: Oswego East Grade: 10 Class: Pottery 1 Title: "Uncertainty" UN Sustainable Development Goal: No Poverty Brief Artist Statement: My piece is a faceless and genderless person sitting on the ground with an empty cup by its side; the black figure represents emptiness and being unknown. People in poverty are seen as another faceless figure in the masses - like their need for survival isn’t as important as some other first world needs. They could be of any age, gender or race. I want people to realize that poverty is a horrible experience; people in poverty are experiencing constant uncertainty. I want to give a voice to people who don’t even have their essential needs met and people who struggle daily.
